Chickpea-Brown Rice Veggie Burger by Shira Bocar

capture_25012015_131215Shira makes a delicious vegetarian burger with chickpeas and brown rice as the main ingredients.  This combination creates a perfect protein.  She adds shallots, garlic, parsley, and an egg for a binder.  Vegans can easily find an alternative to the egg in this recipe.  Shira likes to cook vegetable burgers on a hot pan instead of a grill to get a nice sear on both sides.  In this video, she wraps her burgers in lettuce with onions, roasted red peppers, and mustard for her condiment.  This burger recipe is very healthy and delicious.  Try it.  Enjoy. Roasted Tofu Bites with Pesto by “LowSaltVegDudes”

capture_16012015_162940Here is an easy recipe for finger food appetizers.  They are made with baked tofu cubes and topped with a simple pesto.  The tofu cubes are coated with olive oil and paprika, and baked.  The pesto includes cashews, basil leaves, nutritional yeast, garlic, lemon juice, and olive oil which are blended into a paste.  After the tofu cubes cool, they are topped with the pesto to make a delicious appetizer.  Enjoy. Sauteing and Browning Onions Without Oil by Julie Marie

capture_15012015_155833Julie Marie demonstrates how simple and easy it is to saute onions without oil.  This process is called water sauteing or steam frying.  The flavor developed in sauteing onions and other vegetables comes from the browning or caramelization process, not from the oil that is typically used in most recipes.  Eliminating the oil uses in most sauteing processes eliminates hundreds fat calories from the recipe.  These fat calories do add any nutritional value to the recipe.
