Banana Ice Cream by Miyoko Schinner

capture_14092014_112743Miyoko shows how to make a delicious ice cream substitue with this very easy technique.  She blends frozen bananas, with a touch of almond milk and vanilla extract to make the vanilla flavored ice cream substitute.  She then adds cocoa powder to the blender to make a chocolate flavored treat.  She points out that you can add up to about 1/3 of the banana mixture with other frozen fruits, like strawberries or mangoes, to make different flavored treats.   This is a very, very easy technique to make a delicious and healthy dessert.

As demonstrated in this video, the  “ice cream” is soft.  But, after it is blended, it can be placed in a freezer to harden and develop a texture  closer to traditional ice cream.
